The AGM was held on Thursday 2nd November.
By the rules of the constitution all members of the committee retired from office at the end of the meeting but most of them were re-elected.
Some stood down and we would like to thank them for their help during the past year.
We would also like to welcome some new members, Tim Gleadall, Kay Ilott, Susan Langdon and Jonathan White who have been working with the group in various capacities and have now joined the committee.
We continue to move forward in preparing the questionnaire which will go out to every household and business in Hockley. We are still gathering information and views from residents and businesses and will be holding a forum at Greensward College shortly to allow the students to voice their opinions.
The Youth group are talking to youth workers, community police and other people who have close contacts with youth so that we can use those contacts to get the views of the young people. Since the plan concerns the future of Hockley it is essential that the young are consulted as well as the adults.
Hopefully a workshop for headmasters / educationalists in January will enable them to give their input on the future of education in this area. Obviously a subject of great importance to our future.
This may all seem very slow and painstaking but we feel that if we do not consult widely and in depth, the plan will not have the substance to make it viable. This is one of the few chances that the residents of Hockley have to make their views known and we are determined to get it right.
